The Artists' Trail in Brumath, in homage to Gustave Stosskopf

How about a poetic stroll in the Waldstressel of Brumath?

To keep the memory of Gustave Stoskopf alive through time and generations, the City of Brumath shares poems by this multifaceted artist, first and foremost an Alsatian and a man full of humor , all along this path.

Around fifteen panels enhance the trail, offering walkers a refreshing cultural break. Some are descriptive and narrative poems , while others recount short sketches and humorous vignettes with colorful characters and unexpected endings. All reflect Stoskopf's talent as a comedic writer . This "Artists' Trail " will evolve and will showcase other artists in the future.

It is the result of collaboration between the City of Brumath and the volunteers of the Atelier d'alsacien de Brumath.

Start time

The starting point is located on Rue de la Forêt, near number 17, and offers a loop of approximately 1km . To learn more about the artist ...

The Moder trail of Club Vosgien

La Moder: from its source to its mouth!

It rises at a place called Moderfeld in the territory of Wingen-sur-Moder, on the very edge of the Bas-Rhin department. Its source is marked by a beautiful 18th-century fountain, renovated in 2004, located on the edge of the Lorraine plateau at an altitude of 370 meters. After a course of approximately 90 kilometers , the Moder joins the Rhine near Neuhaeusel, downstream from the Iffezheim hydroelectric power station, upstream from the Roppenheim-Wintersdorf metal bridge. The Zorn, part of whose water once flowed towards the Rhine, is now entirely captured by the Moder downstream from Rohrwiller.

99 km of hiking

With the Moder trail , the Vosges Clubs of Wingen/Moder, Ingwiller, Val de Moder and Haguenau-Lembach offer access to the cultural and natural heritage built around the history of the villages crossed by this river, from the local produce to the traditions, from industry to crafts ! Long 99 km and divided into 5 stages , without significant elevation gain, the trail marked with a blue easel in both directions is accessible on certain sections to cyclists and people with reduced mobility.

It crosses the municipalities of Zittersheim, Wingen-sur-Moder, Wimmenau, Ingwiller, Menchhoffen, Obermodern, Zutzendorf, La Walck, Pfaffenhoffen, Uberach, Neubourg, Schweighouse / Moder, Haguenau, Kaltenhouse, Bischwiller, Rohrwiller, Drusenheim, Dalmatten, Auenheim, Roeschwoog, Fort-Louis and Neuhaeusel.

A topographical guide

The path along the Moder River offers numerous attractions, particularly its rich history. That's why a guidebook accompanies the trail, highlighting its unique features. Created by the Vosges Club and annotated by the Haguenau Historical Society, this guide is neither a history book nor a tourist guide: it guides and accompanies hikers along the trail, drawing their attention to points of interest. This trail is perfectly suited to both beginners and experienced walkers.

Where can I get the guide?

The guidebook " Hiking along the Moder " is available at the Tourist Office of the Haguenau region, Forest and Pottery Country, 1 place Joseph-Thierry, at a price of €7.50.
