The Gros-Chêne site in the Exceptional Forest®

At the edge of the Eberbach stream in the Exceptional Forest® of Haguenau, we discover the site of Gros Chêne. Its name is due to a 5 to 6 century old tree struck down on November 13, 1913. Part of the trunk remains today wearing a tin hat.
Each year the patronal feast of St-Arbogast is celebrated in the small chapel built in 1955. Near the Gros-Chêne site you will find a picnic area, a playground and an inn. The site is also the starting point, or a stopover, for many marked trails for hiking, cycling and mountain biking, fitness trails, as well as a trail accessible to people with reduced mobility.
