First named "Auberge de l'ours noir", "Café Bertrand" then "Café du Commerce", the restaurant has always been called "De bäre" in dialect. It was not until 2008 that the restaurant took on the name "L'ours": a literal translation of its historic Alsatian appellation. Family for 4 generations, it is today Christelle and Jean Wagner who strive to bring this unique place to life in Bischwiller. At the helm of the kitchen, Christian Wagner perpetuates the family culinary art with traditional cuisine made on site and prepared from fresh products (often from the vegetable patch and the restaurant's orchard), carefully selected.
