6th largest plain forest massif in France et front door toward Northern Alsace, the forest of Haguenau extends over 21 ha, representing 30 km from west to east and 10 km from north to south. Its largest entity, the undivided forest of Haguenau, is labeled Exceptional Forest® since 2020.
Place of relaxation privileged for Haguenovians and visitors, this green lung offers many possibilities for walks andindustrial ! Come fill up on day, find yourself, exercise, play... In short, get away, simply !
Discover a forest with multifaceted which is full of treasures, between remarkable trees, ponds, ornithological observatory, tumuli, remnants of war… TO piedor a bike or to cheval, a rich forest to go all year round, over the seasons, where the landscape is punctuated by colors and odor.
💡 The programme Hidden treasures of the undivided forest of Haguenau offers more than 40 outings each year: edible plants, mycology, wetlands, birds, bats, oil... And since 2021, participatory outings in the form of nature projects (fight against invasive plants and restoration of forest ponds ).
The website of Big Oak, in the heart of the forest, is a place much appreciated by visitors: playground for children, spaces picnic, hostel to eat... All the ingredients are there to spend a good moment of relaxation in family or between . You will find there the remains of the Big Oak who had been struck down en 1913, next to the Saint-Arbogast chapel, named after theallows who would have lived under the oak tree before becoming bishop of Strasbourg in the VIth century. Le Gros Chêne is also the starting point many marked routes de walking tours, cycling tours, fitness trail as well as a trail adapted for people with reduced mobility and strollers.
