Location and access

  • Dolphin Fountain - Frantisek_Zvardon
In the center of Place d'Armes, you can see the Hospital fountain. The latter is now called the "dolphin fountain"; in fact, the water flows from the dolphins that you can make out on each side of the central pedestal.
It was built in honor of King Charles X whose bust it bore. After the revolution of July 1830, the Haguenoviens, anxious to make disappear the signs of their fidelity to the fallen king, replaced the bust by a basin and erased the dedication to the king by digging grooves on the barrel of the column. Look carefully at this column. On the protruding parts of these grooves are still visible letters of this dedication.
