BR48 From the banks of the Rhine to the Marne-Rhine canal
Strasbourg
Crossing the suburb of Robertsau, the route runs along the grounds of Pourtalès castle to lead to the high water dike erected parallel to the Rhine. After La Wantzenau, whose entrance is marked by the bridge over the Ill, a succession of villages is offered to the cyclist. Return to the banks of the Rhine via the site of the large locks at Gambsheim before turning west. The towns of Bischwiller, Haguenau then Brumath mark out the circuit which joins Strasbourg by the towpath of the Marne-au-Rhin canal.
