The City of Bischwiller is organizing its first contemporary art biennial “when the sculptures dance”. On this occasion, 1 monumental sculptures are installed in the City.
For this first biennial in Bischwiller the choice fell on 4 artists whose reputation is great: Sylvie de Meurville, Armin Göhringer, Robert Schad and François Weil.
This involves presenting several works by each artist to better evoke and signify their universe. There is the use of metal, wood, moss, stone which in a real or suggested way allows the presence or evocation of movement.

Works in public space always provoke many questions. The meaning, the materials, the shapes, the relationship to space itself?

Throughout the journey of discovering these works, there is always the search for the visitor's participation: following the contours, the lines, the volumes, seeking to penetrate the processes of elaboration of the work and living with it in activating the sculpture itself or mobilizing one's body to understand it, to penetrate it. The visitor activates his imagination and understands that the space of the sculpture takes into account the space of its installation. Perhaps it even gives new meaning to the surrounding space?

These sculptures allow us to reconsider a landscape that habit had obliterated. This reactivation is like a godsend for emotion, for the questioning of a kind of interiority that each of the works carries. What we call here the representation happens between the soul of the sculpture and the body of the visitor. It is a fruitful exchange for those who know how to wait, for those who choose the time for a long and penetrating look. The movement that then emerges has as much to do with the lines of the sculptures, the spaces they designate, the volumes they contain and our own interior inclinations.

To better discover them, free guided tours are offered on Sundays December 3, January 14, February 11 and March 17 - meeting at 14:30 p.m. in front of the Laub Museum - duration 2 hours.

For children and families, free discovery visits "1 hour-1 artist" will be offered: Tuesday February 27 at 10 a.m., Thursday February 29 at 14:30 p.m., Tuesday March 5 at 10 a.m. and Thursday March 8 at 14:30 p.m. Meet in front of the Laub Museum - it is not obligatory to make all four visits.

THE ARTISTS
- Sylvie De Meurville: resin sculptor (French)
The rivers are its sources of creation. These works are installed on the Vestra pond.

- Armin Göhringer: wood sculptor (German)
He creates wooden sculptures clad in metal with a play between balance and instability. These sculptures are visible on rue Raymond Poincaré.

- Robert Schad: metal sculptor (German)
He creates designs in space from monumental solid steel tubes. These sculptures are installed at the station.

- François Weil: stone sculptor (French)
He seeks movement and balance in these works. Each proposed achievement can be set in motion by a simple human impulse. These sculptures are visible along the green grid.
