Through a selection of paintings, drawings, prints and printed matter – some of which have never been exhibited – this collection, which began in the 20th century with a passion for Alsace and its images, is on display. The tour traces the history of the collection and its issues with the current museum, before offering a selection of varied visions of artists on Alsace and the figure of the Alsatian woman. The paintings of Lothar von Seebach, very present in the corpus, hold a privileged place. The François Lotz collection, a summary of the history of art in Alsace, from the end of the 18th century to the 80s?
In 2024, the Musée de l'Image Populaire de Pfaffenhoffen proudly celebrates its 25th anniversary. Over the years, it has been able to renew and adapt itself to always offer more to its visitors, while remaining faithful to its primary mission. This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate past achievements, but also to look to the future with enthusiasm. The museum is honored to announce a significant event in the history of our institution: the addition of the surname "François Lotz" to its name, in tribute to one of its eminent founders.
