In 2015, Julie Annen left Belgium to settle in Switzerland with her husband. She has two boys, and he has a daughter: Ana. Julie then officially became his stepmother, in other words, his stepmother. Lacking a satisfactory role model, they had to come to terms with this new bond, work together to create a brand new relationship, avoid its pitfalls, and discover its hidden treasures.
The Poisoned Apple is a play about blended families and, more broadly, about our ability to live together. It tells the story of the journey toward an unexpected bond, born despite arguments and misunderstandings; the authentic and autobiographical testimony of a love that found its way and was able to overcome prejudices; a show to open a dialogue on new family models that, far from impoverishing the concept of family, make it grow and give it new colors.
