Throughout the narration, the audience will become acquainted with characters representative of this era: Godfrey of Viterbe, direct witness, the Dotzler, court jester, Constance of Hauteville, wife of Henry VI, Richard the Lionheart, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Herrade of Landberg, Marguerite of Provence, Queen of France.
